ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT
After the 1994 Rwanda Tutsi Genocide ended, nearly one million lives had been claimed. Property had been destroyed, the survivors were carrying both internal and external wounds. Hope and trust had been lost.

Twenty-two years later Rwanda is still on the recovery road and much is yet to be done. In Rwanda women comprise the largest number of the population and carry huge family responsibilities. GHM seeks to empower these women and family members with vocational skills to reach the goal of raising household income of families from $1 per day to $10 per day.

While women sit down and weave a basket they share their stories and resolve conflicts. This leads to total unity and reconciliation.

Due to lost hope the majority of these young women who are attending our classes came from lifestyles that  put them at high risk of contracting HIV and AIDS. Through these classes we help them to know Jesus, discover His plan for their lives, and to learn a skill   which helps them earn an income.
